i have a friend who does family fun fairs. He has a big grill and several of those kids blow up things (moon bounce, giant slide, etc) and a big truck that opens into a stage. He works with local churches, advertise everything is free, they get donations of prizes to give away and do service things as well (free hair cuts, nails, massages, etc).

My advice, decide specifically what you want to do, and work the churches within your organization for support and opportunities.
